I am unfortunately forced to make an apology for a previous post about keagans achievement, due to a complaint. I was unaware that it would cause offense.
Following this I hereby tender my resignation (before I get an angry mob after me) as blog admin and author, pending 1 weeks notice, during which time i reserve the right not to post and/or appoint new authors.
For the time being bubbles will claim administrative powers, and anyone seeking the job as author should email thornetigers@hotmail.co.uk.
That's all for now, thank you and goodnight.

Update
Well done to everyone who swam yesterday in the dartes gala, I know you all swam your hearts out. We had some great performances from our group with only a few hiccups along the way.
Looking forward to tonight, gala 4 and the last in our club championship series. It's mostly sprints so I hope you're all prepared!
See you soon swimmers!

Updates
First of all, a huuuge well done to Keagan, who placed 5th in the Scottish Nationals ("comment removed due to complaint") which is an amazing achievement.
Secondly congratulations to all the swimmers that were invited to swim in the Dartes gala which is today, and to those who made it onto the reserve squad. For such a tiny club, having a sixth of the team be from us is grrrrrrrreat!
Thirdly, the cheque arrived last week. What cheque i hear you ask. well the one for £1500 from the youth bank which we are going to use for some specialist coaching with international coach Dave Legge. He's even bringing international swimmers like Gemma Lowe!!!!!! Yay! (by invite only, as he only teaches 20 swimmers at a time).
Club Champs 3:
So I didnt get anything organised for the blog AGAIN (yes i know) but I just want to say a big well done to everyone who participated, and a WOW to the people who swam the 200m butterfly, including some very young swimmers. Maybe we'll get more entry for it next year (whos up for a challenge???). So well done everyone, but this week lets have a bit more team spirit ok??
Much loveage, bergy x x

Club Championships Gala One:
Here's what some people thought of today's gala (to get your comments added, email them to thornetigers@hotmail.co.uk):
"The first club championship gala got underway today, all the swimmers arrived well before the 5pm deadline for signing in, so well done. On to the important part then, all the swimmers did brilliant, especially the youngsters many of who were competing in their first club gala. Although i was time keeping and didnt get to see that much, there were some excellent swims and some very fast times, i would think that quite a few club records were broken today, well done to everyone keep up the good work there are three more gala's left so stay focused and keen, see you all next sunday." (Julie H, parent and official)
"I've just got home from a very hot and very enjoyable first gala in the series of 4.
Congratulations to everyone who took part, it takes guts to turn up and race, especially if you are not a high flyer, and you know that you are not going to win before you start.
Some very gutsy races, especially the 400 freestyle.
I look forward to the next three events
Good luck to everyone taking part" (David B, parent and official)
"Well this was the first club champs gala at Thorne Tigers for me and I think it went really well. The only bad that happened was Sammy spraining her ankle but otherwise everything went fast no delays :) " (Hannah H, swimmer and competitor)
So well done swimmers. Hopefully more reviews to follow.
Much hugging and high fives, bergyboo x x
Funding from youth bank
So we interviewed Tom R about the pitch for funding from the youth bank. Here goes:
Boo: So Tom, what happened last Wednesday?
Tom: Last Wednesday we tried to get some money for expert coaching for our club. :D
Boo: and how did you do that?
Tom: me and some other people in the club applied this to a group of young people that work for [the council]
Boo: Yes. so you pitched your ideas in an interview?
Tom: yep we did just that. they asked us questions such as how will this help your club? and then went on to ask more challenging questions like 'how will this help the wider community?'. it was a challenge but i think we did alright
Boo: so we know that the club has the money. But how hard was the interview really?
Tom: it was alright. i think that it'd have been a lot more difficult if there was only one of us. we bounced ideas off each other
Boo: were you prepared going into the interview? how so?
Tom: I was kinda prepared. I'd been ill before the interview for about a week so i didn't really know what my team mates were going to say, but i read through the leaflet and i think i understood what i was doing. [this helped].
Boo: what was the hardest thing that you were asked?
Tom: probrably, as i said earlier, the ' how will this benefit the wider community one. it was unexpected and i think threw us off track a bit. but we pulled back
Boo: were there any amusing or strange questions?
Tom: erm...i liked the 'are these you're mascots' one. it made me chuckle XD
Boo: what was the best and what was the worst part of the interview?
Tom: i liked going in and coming out :D but i dont think there really was a worst part. it was probrably the nerves beforehand
Boo: ok. so how do you feel about it now that we've got the funding?
Tom: I think its great! im really glad and proud that we've done it
Boo: anything else to say before we finish?
Tom: Only thatks for letting me go to the interview and thanks for this one too! :D
Boo: it's ok, thanks for talking with us. See you at swimming!

Nothings gone on...or has it?
Last Wednesday, Beth, Sammi, Tom R and Emily L went to an interview with the 'Youth Bank' in Doncaster. The aim? To raise £1500 for a specialist swim clinic.
Pleased with even getting an interview, the rather unprepared group pitched the idea to a panel of young people, and then waited a nervous week for the answer.
*queue mission impossible music*
The result:
dun
dun
dun.........
"Thank you for applying to the Youth Opportunities fund.
The panel carefully considered your application at the meeting and made the following decision:
Your application is successful and payment of £1,500.00 will be made..."
(it carries on but the rest is just details details)
So what is the money being spent on? Well, we plan to spend two weekends after the summer at 'swim clinics' which are run by an international coach, assisted by an international swimmer!!
Because of the nature of the sessions, only 20 swimmers will participate (5 per lane), but the stroke development and the coach development mean a huge input is made to the club in future. It is also a chance for some of our more senior swimmers to give something back to the younger ones.
More details will be available shortly, so keep reading, but hopefully we will soon have an interview with two of the 'pitchers' from the interview.
Happy swimming :D
